Wig & Mitre

The Wig & Mitre is a traditional English pub situated in the heart of historic Lincoln, in the Cathedral Quarter on an aptly named Steep Hill. Our wonderful old building with it’s white frontage is instantly recognisable and as you step inside you feel at home which is how we want you to feel. Our downstairs bar features a framed newspaper clippings that adorn the walls and a buzzy atmosphere that makes us so popular. Our main restaurant is perfect for everyone from couples to groups or should you wish a cosier dining experience then we can accommodate you in our upstairs dining area that faces onto Steep Hill.

The Wig & Mitre’s chefs work hard to bring the freshest ingredients and seasonal fare to the table. The blackboards inside show some of the best seasonal and local selection of food Lincolnshire has to offer.

Food is served throughout the day, from morning breakfasts, lunchtime sandwiches as well as our blackboard specials including our set menu and main menu.  Our menus are ambitious yet affordable with a good range of starters, mains and desserts uniquely created by our talented chefs.

Our range is varied from Modern European to traditional gastro pub food.  We always use fresh ingredients on site, these are sourced locally by tried and tested suppliers. Our menus also contain a wide variety of gluten-free and vegetarian choices.

Our children’s menu offers a nutritious range of dishes at very fair prices making the Wig & Mitre extremely welcoming to families.

We hold an excellent stock of wines from around the world, local ales, and ales from our own micro-brewery, continental beers and lagers and a selection of spirits and mixers.  Speciality coffees and teas are also available.

We regularly hold Gourmet Evenings, Wine Tasting with Supper Evenings and Champagne “Bubbly Tasting” Nights.
